The MIDI sync and OTHERS Screens.

The MPC2000 complies to MIDI CLOCK, MIDI TIME CODE and MIDI MACHINE CONTROL synchronous messages. This enables you to synchronise with other sequencers and also by using a MIDI MACHINE CONTROL compliant multi-track recorder control the MTR from the MPC.

Press MIDI/ SYNC (9 on the numeric pad) whilst holding shift. To set the MPC as a slave device set the Sync In window on the left. Select the MIDI input port and choose the Mode: you wish to use.

If you wish to use the MPC as a master then follow the above procedure but on the right hand side of the screen.

It is also possible to send and receive sample dumps in the DUMP screen, set the receive or transmit fields as necessary, select the file name in the Snd: field.

You can also assign MIDI foot switch messages to the main functions of the MPC such as OVERDUB/ PLAY. Go to the MIDIsw page and allocate the functions here.

The OTHER Mode screen allows you to set the TAP TEMPO function and initialise all data, it is also possible to check the operating system version here. Press the OTHER (8 on the numeric keypad) whilst holding shift.

Here you can adjust the TAP TEMPO average. The TAP TEMPO button (on the front panel) allows you to tap out an average tempo in time with say a phrase sample playing externally. The Tap averaging: field allows you to set the number of taps used to calculate, when set to a large value it is possible to get an exact tempo and when set to a small value it is not as exact but it will cope with rapid changes in the taped tempo.

The INIT screen allows you to erase the data on the MPC memory and initialise all parameters, press DO IT to execute.

The INIT screen displays the operating system version currently loaded on the MPC.
